Another Post Already?! and its about Textbooks?!

I thought to myself, until I get some readers - this is just a sad lonely guy hitting keys on his laptop.
Then I started brainstorming...what would be the best way to get people to stumble upon this blog. The only thing I could thing of was to write about ways to get good cheap textbooks for schools like UBC, SFU, Uvic, BCIT, and so on. Of course I'm sure these tips can be applied to any post-secondary institution.

So here its is 10 easy tips for getting textbooks besides the bookstores!

1)Make sure YOU'RE actually taking the class, I've seen so many student buy all their books so early, and they would drop the course the next week...Once you've opened the shrink wrap on your book, then its gg (or qq or see ya), you could always sell it back to them for 1/2 the price(i hope you're not a math or business major).

2)Look at discount bookstores, some school such as UBC has discount bookstore that sells the books cheaper (just a mircoscopic amount) than regular bookstores. Used bookstores as well.

3) Look for older editions, some books have just recently changed edition, with the content exactly the same except for a couple pages added (that you won't need to read EVER). I still chuckle when ever i think of my bio class textbook- instead of the 3rd edition people bought the "custom canadian edtion" >.<

4)Buy from other people: craiglists and saveonbooks are both excellent places to look, sure some sellers are jerks but who cares. You're saving a couple bucks, while you know that they probably paid full price for that book.

5)Ask your friends' friends, cousin's friends, siblings' friends. often there are people who want to sell their books, but just haven't placed an ad anywhere (people like this is everywhere).

6)Go to the bookstore and look for people who are looking at 2nd/3rd/4th year course books that indicate they must've taken your course and ask.

7) Buy online: 20 bucks from the store, 6 bucks from amazon...you do the math ಠ_ಠ

8)Go to LIBRARY!!!!! some books are there, especially those english novels. *sigh* people forget the obvious. Btw the library accepts something called the library card, not cash.

9)Google it!!!!!!! look for pdfs and ebooks, FREE!!!!! (obviously look for legal stuff, like some companies will post pdf version of their answer keys online, so you won't need to buy a solution manuel)

10) Borrow books from friends- yea sure they may want to sell it instead...so make a system. He/She will lend you the textbook, while you can lend them a textbook they may need.

Think of the money you can save...starcraft 2, food, 5x5 rubix cube here I come!!!
My next posts will probably be about more lazy stuff like new tcg cards, starcraft patches, bad manner people on the bus (i really want to do this one soon). But stay tuned for more university tips.

Hopes to be the first of Many

As I lied to myself that I'll start studying and finishing my lab reports after a short break, I logged onto facebook only to find out that a couple of my friends have started working on blogs. Then it hit me like the big bang or hit me like my friend when i make a witty comment. I'm pretty interesting...not really (but i get laughed at a lot), I should start my own blog!

So here it is. I've decided that this blog will purely be for entertainment and expression of my comments.
Upon these posts, you readers will be treated to my awful grammar, rants, and current events- all through the eyes of a lowly nerd trying to get through university alive.

So be prepared for many starcraft/yugioh/anime related topics, stories of school, and things I find annoying (ie. ppl of the bus -_-)
Feel free to laugh, cry, yell, or yawn, ill be sitting here (without a girlfriend)
